CDCA Thunder Girls Cricket League

CDCA Thunder Girls Cricket League Spring 2019

 

The Camden District Cricket Association (CDCA) are running girl’s only Spring Thunder Girls Cricket League competitions starting in week 4 of term 4 for all school aged girls.

 

There will be two opportunities, either a Stage 1 ‘soft play’ competition on a Wednesday afternoon at 5:00pm, or a Stage 2 ‘hard ball’ competition on a Monday afternoon at 5:00pm.

 

Please note that girls who register will be able to play across both competitions. If you’re interested in participating, we’d love to receive your registration or see you at a FREE practice match.

 

 

FREE girl’s come and try practice matches

There will be two FREE practice games where the girls can come and give the Spring 2019 Thunder Girls Cricket League competition a go. These practice matches will be on

  • Wednesday, 30th October 2019 (Stage 1) 5:00pm - 7:00pm Jackson Park, Woodbine
  • Monday, 28th October 2019 (Stage 2) 5:00pm - 7:00pm Clark Reserve, Kearns

     

     

    Stage 1 - ‘soft play’ environment with no protective equipment needed

    Stage 2 - games are competitive using a 142g leather ball, protective equipment must be worn

Cost and registration

The cost of the CDCA Thunder Girls Cricket League Spring 2019 competition is $60To register for please visit https://www.playcricket.com.au/ click on ‘Where can I play?’ and enter ‘Camden District’.

 

 

About the Stage 1 competition

Junior cricket stage 1 is a T20 competition, open to all girls, but aimed at those new to cricket. There will be only 7 players on the field at a time, the pitch length is 16m, the boundary 40m, and the games will finish within 2 hours. Girls will be put into teams of 5-9 players, or if you already have a group of girls, you are more than welcome to bring your own team along to the competition. Please note that the games, though competitive, will be a ‘soft play’ environment with no helmets, pads, gloves, or other protective equipment needed. All cricket gear will be provided, though girls are welcome to still bring their own.

 

 

About the Stage 2 competition

Junior cricket stage 2 is a T20 competition, preferable that girls have played cricket previously. There will be only 9 players on the field at a time, the pitch length is 18m, the boundary 45m, and the games will finish within 2 hours. Girls will be put into teams of 9-11 players, or if you already have a group of girls, you are more than welcome to bring your own team along to the competition. Please note that the games are competitive using a 142g leather ball. Helmet’s must be worn at all times whilst batting and wicket-keeping. When batting, girls must also wear pads and gloves; a protector and/or additional safety equipment can be worn based on personal preference. All cricket gear will be provided, though girls are encouraged to bring their own.
